What works for one Berkshire town may not always translate to another. But Jared Decoteau, proprietor of Public Eat+Drink in North Adams, had a hunch he could fill the same niche in Pittsfield. “There’s a lot of very casual restaurants here and a couple of higher-end restaurants, but nothing that bridges that middle space,” Decoteau says. “That’s the goal of DISTRICT KITCHEN & BAR—casual but a bit more refined.”
With its modern, gastro-pub flair, District soon became a hotspot. Chef Taylor Hitchcock serves up a contemporary-American seasonal menu, and an industrial interior highlights a rotating selection of art. Weekend nights, seats are coveted at the custom-built bar.
