OUTABOUT-leadcc-f13bd247Lovers of avant-garde, provocative, and ground-breaking performance will be lining up when the Mass Live Arts festival returns to the Daniel Center for the Arts at Bard College at Simon’s Rock for three weeks of ambitious new work, July 6-26.

The festival is offering more programming in its third season and opening up artist residencies to the public—including choreographer Faye Driscoll, who is developing the second installment of her MLA co-commission, Thank You for Coming; and performance artist Heather Fisch, who is honing her work for Mahaiwe-bound The Tarot Show.

A festival highlight will be the performance of Andrew Schneider’s YOUARENOWHERE, the recent winner of an OBIE Award. The piece combines performance with a landscape of visual and aural effects to produce an experience that questions reality. “It’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen,” says Bachrach of Schneider’s show. “It completely transported me. We are literally seeing things in the theater that had never been possible or happened before.”

The festival also includes a world premiere by experimental theater company Radiohole and a film series on the influential, award-winning Wooster Group. In place of the traditional Q&A, audience members are invited to join artists and performers at post-show cookouts.
